No matter what point we are at in our careers, our own and others’ leadership skills affect us profoundly. There’s a big difference between leadership and authority; some have authority but are not great leaders, whilst others can be great leaders without being in a position of authority.
Either way, the good news is that leadership skills can be taught. I love teaching Leadership as part of the CIEE’s Advanced Entrepreneur Lab course. It’s so encouraging to watch my students discover what it takes to be a good leader, and how better communication is central to leadership. Good leaders have enthusiastic, dedicated teams. Likewise, they have customers who are loyal because they believe in the founder’s values.
I recently sat down with CIEE’s Naveed Ratansi to share my views on leadership and how to get it right. You can read the full interview here.
A participant on Mia’s Leadership course recently said “I have a masters in Leadership and Management. Why has no one taught me what you just have?” Click here to read more
